We will be having a second workshop on “Transitioning from Corporate to Startup” this Saturday, Nov. 30th from 10-12 pm at iHub. We have invited several people to join in on the conversation including Kiptoo Magutt, co-founder of Twende (a carpooling startup),  Penny Kimani, co-founder of Sproutfy (an edtech startup), and Christine Kariuki, one of our Afrijob fellows who’s currently working at SWVL (bus-hailing startup). The African startup ecosystem has experienced a meteoric rise in the last decade. Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya lead the pack in terms of deal volume, with Lagos, Cape Town, and Nairobi topping the list of African startup ecosystems. Recently, Twiga Foods (a Kenyan logistics startup) closed a $30 million deal from lenders and investors led by top American investment bank Goldman Sachs. There has never been a better time to be part of the African startup ecosystem. How can you get into your dream startup job? We will be running several workshops to improve your employability at a fast-growing African startup. To start off, our first workshop will introduce you to the startup ecosystem, give you more insights on the startup work environment as well as skills that startups are keen on and help you craft your elevator pitch and resume to tell a compelling professional story. We look forward to an interactive session through storytelling, peer review of resumes, as you practice your winning elevator pitch!
